redeemed by our art, by our kindness, and our occasional uncharacteristic moments of selflessness. alas, music. a glorious vibration. as we are too funny little vibrations in the shape of these familiar human vessels.

Festival Recall ! L'ancienne maison de disques d'Hawksley nous propose les 25, 26, 27 et 30 novembre au Cabaret Sauvage un défilé de ses poulains : The Servant, Elista, Julien Ribot, ... ainsi que Serena Ryder et Hawksley Workman ! (le 30 novembre)

Une belle occasion de revoir notre canadien préféré dans une salle magnifique.

Pour s'échauffer la voix, Serena Ryder sera en tournée showcase FNAC. Ne la ratez pas !

"lately, i have been taking some time of quiet. as you know i ran into a bit of trouble with my ear early in the spring, and decided to take a break. during my brief convalescence i was blessed to receive thoughtful gifts and many letters of support. i deeply appreciate your love and care. the people that support me and my music continue to be a great inspiration to me. every time i set about a tour the warmth of my audience quells any doubts or disappointments i have for this crazy world. thank you for that. i have begun to write and think about the next record, and that is occupying the majority of my thoughts these days. lonely, the wolves and i will be touring this summer in cananda... which we all are looking forward to. our first stop in vancouver the other day reminded us how much we love playing together and how close we are as friends... so the upcoming shows should be fun. i feel very lucky to have the support and affection that i do from you - the people that passionately receive my music and thoughts. i look forward to creating community together with you in music...

C'est donc Sarah McLachlan qui remporte le Juno 2004 du meilleur songwriter devant Hawksley Workman...

La nouvelle est tombée hier... La fin de la tournée européenne est annulée, Hawksley souffrant de l'oreille droite. Souhaitons lui un prompt rétablissement !

"i regret to say i have to cancel the next run of shows. i have suffered what the doctor calls trauma to my right ear. it happened during my show in paris. somehow i sustained a damaging blast of volume in my monitor on stage that has left my right ear ringing and unable to hear high frequency sound. i admit i am a tad worried... which is why i have heeded my
doctor's recomendation to submit myself to a few weeks quiet. i am disappointed to have to go home early. our first half of the french tour was wonderful... and should have continued that way in to the rest of europe and canada. however with this time off... i should recover to near normal. beyond this minor turmoil... my heart and mind are opening to newness and discovery. i hear two new records in my head at the moment... and have been faithfully writing. a few weeks ago i visited bangladesh to host a television documentary about child labour in the garment industry there. the country and its people inspired me greatly.
i am feeling that it is a good time to take good ideas and well meant intentions to task. to hold dear to your truths and beauties and humbly commit to employing them faithfully. i know these are lofty statements... and aren't my typical poetic codes... so i leave you with this...

i watched horses by the airport this morning. babies touched their mothers as the planes came and went. the sun struggled to be seen through the typical haze of a london morning. it was green around them and they stood naive and beautiful. sometimes such simplicities make me weepy. a man was planting flowers in the city garden last sunday. the sidewalk
held them in. a breeze is still a breeze i thought. and these little flowers know it. winter has passed and spring has come with its resurection and promise. i shall never take for granted my fortune of knowing winter turning to spring. i will roll up, one day, and be eaten lovingly... drunk like a rose petal tea... and feel the warm new breath of a beginning that i only distantly understand.

Hawksley recrute... ou plutôt son management ! Pour les besoins de la tournée française, il recherche des personnes pouvant tenir le stand merchandising. Une personne par ville pour les dates suivantes : Le Havre (06/03), Angers (12/03), Rennes (13/03). Et si Zurich et le Luxembourg vous intéressent...

Tout comme l'année dernière, Hawksley est nominé aux Juno (Victoires de la musique canadiennes). Cette année, dans la catégorie "songwriter de l'année", il concourt contre Kathleen Edwards, Nelly Furtado, Sarah McLachlan et Ron Sexsmith. Rendez-vous le 4 avril pour les résultats !

Vous allez voir Hawksley en concert à Nantes, Le Havre, Orléans, Angers et Rennes ? Merci de m'envoyer un petit mail... :)

Rappel : ce dimanche, MCM consacrera une soirée à Hawksley Workman. Il diffusera à 23h00 une heure du fameux concert lillois (enregistré en novembre 2003) puis un documentaire passionnant (backstages, répétitions, tournage clip, etc...). A vos magnétos !

Et hop ! Hawksley ne s'arrête plus de tourner. Toutes les nouvelles dates ici (dont la France bien entendu !).

A noter qu'actuellement sur le forum français se joue la coupe Hawksley (organisée de main de maîtres par Manu et Claudine). Entre poules, 1/16 de finale, 1/8 de finale, etc... venez voter pour THE chanson d'Hawksley... Passionnant et très marrant de voir les goûts de chacun !

Plus d'infos sur Serena Ryder, la première artiste à signer sur Isadora Records, le label d'Hawksley... Celui-ci produit actuellement son premier album et nous aurons vraisemblablement la chance de la voir en France en première partie de la tournée qui s'annonce pour mars...

Plus d'infos sur la soirée consacrée à Hawksley sur MCM le dimanche 25 janvier... Le documentaire qui suivra le concert (enregistré à Lille le 28 novembre dernier) regroupera notamment des images réalisées au Canada lors de l'enregistrement de son dernier album. Puis MCM nous invite à le suivre depuis son départ de Paris à son arrivée à Lille, sa séance de dédicaces et son show-case à la FNAC. Enfin, nous retrouverons Hawksley lors de ses répétitions, balances et en backstage.
