"A Room For London" / International
Architecture Competition in England organised by Living
Architecture / december 2010
- purpose : build a temporary a 40sqm
hotel room on the roof of the Elizabeth Concert Hall
- scenario :
The Southbank area
is composed by strong architectural identity like the National Theater,
Elizabeth Concert Hall. This place is defined by the "poetry"
of the presence of raw concrete.
First question about the new project of the room : it has to be exist
by itself or it must fit the context ?
Artistic interventions seems to provide some "customizations"
by interventions of sculptures or graphics to improve the context.
It fits with what is already there.
The project play with the identity of the existing building: It’s
an ironic situation that the project reveals identity implicit of the
existing building.
Its presence shows a " hide" provocation. It creates a fictional
scenario.
The room is a “security place”, to be protect to observe
(as "extra VIP) like in a" bunker ", a discret contextual
observatory.
