Data on volunteering
Volunteering concerns more than 13 million people in 2003 in France, 21 millions in Germany, 22 millions in the United Kingdom... This is not a marginal trend but a social phenomenom. It has increased since the past 10 years in the occidental societies where altruism , humanity and solidarity are no more considered as old fashioned notions. There are between 100 and 150 million volunteers in Europe according to a european study (European Commission, Brussels, 2010).
