International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE)

 

IAVE was founded in 1970 by a small group of women recognizing the importance of international exchange of information, best practices and mutual support as a way of encouraging and strengthening volunteerism worldwide. The International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) is an international non-governmental organization that promotes, celebrates, and strengthens volunteerism worldwide. IAVE has currently approximately 800 individual and organizational members in about 100 countries. It works in close cooperation with the United Nations Volunteers Programme (UNV) and with CIVICUS.

Association of Voluntary Service Organisations, AVSO

 

AVSO, formerly named the "Steering Group of Voluntary Service Organisations", emerged from a conference on longer term voluntary service which took place in Bonn in December 1989. AVSO exists to promote and facilitate longer term Voluntary Service opportunities; it's an international non-governmental organisation, forming a European platform of national and international non-profit organisations active in the field of longer term Voluntary Service. It currently has 13 member organisations and since many of these are networks or international associations themselves, they represent more than 80 organisations in Europe. All of AVSOs members are active in the promotion of voluntary service and/or act as service organisations facilitating the placement and the exchange of people wanting to volunteer in an international context.

Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS)

 

Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service was founded in 1948 by the UNESCO. Its function is to be a coordinating platform for its member organisations around the world. The Committee works to provide assistance to member organisations and towards institutional partners co-operating in the field of voluntary service. It encourages individuals to be involved in the member organisations or contact them to find specific voluntary missions that they organise.
