Centre Européen du Volontariat, CEV
 
CEV was created by the two Belgian Regional Volunteer Centres, Vlaams Steunpunt Vrijwilligerswerk and l'Association pour le Volontariat which, together with the Centre National du Volontariat (France) , the National Centre for Volunteering (UK), and the Centro Nazionale per il Voluntariato (Italy) organised a Meeting in Lucca, Italy , in 1989 for the representatives of National and Regional Volunteer Centres in eight European countries. The European Volunteer Centre (CEV) was founded in February 1990 on the basis of this declaration, and in 1992 was officially granted the status of "international non-profit organisation". It is a European umbrella association of 29 National and Regional Volunteer Centres across Europe, that together work to support and promote voluntary activity.
CEV channels the collective priorities and concerns of its member organisations to the institutions of the European Union. It also acts as a central forum for the exchange of policy, practice and information on volunteerism. It supports networking among its members and organises conferences, seminars, workshops and other activities such as research.
The members of CEV represent thousands of volunteer organisations, association and other voluntary and community groups at local, regional and national level. Together they work to: influence policy; strengthen the infrastructure for volunteering in the countries of Europe; promote volunteering and make it more effective.

European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research
 
The European Centre is an UN-affiliated intergovernmental organization concerned with all aspects of social welfare policy and research. Its mains functions are:
- applying social science and comparative empirical research on social policy and welfare;
- providing social science-supported social policy intelligence through a think-net;
- initiating future-oriented public policy debates on social welfare issues within the UN-European Region.
The European Centre has been working in the field of volunteering on a regional (a study in Lower Austria) and european level (Leonardo da Vinci Training Programs for volunteers and paid-staff working with volunteers).
