The first number of the
Ukrainian newsletter published by the Kyiv-based Centre for the Development of
Arts Education is devoted to the theory and practice of
cause-related marketing and sponsorship in the field of culture. Entitled
"All about the art of managing the arts", this issue touches on arts management issues
in the context of the ongoing cultural policy reform and the emergence of a
new role of culture in the social and economic life in today’s Ukraine.
Articles include theoretical
contributions, offer definitions, describe arts management techniques and
practices, present training and funding opportunities and also include a book
review. The
issue features also an analysis by Butsenko on the
present state of arts sponsorship and patronage in Ukraine, and reproduces the
text of a recent Government decree setting out the priorities for national cultural policy
in 2005-2007.
