This spring number is dedicated to
the role of culture in Europe. In her opening article, Autissier briefly
reviews the text of the EU Constitution concerning its implications for
culture; she highlights both positive issues such as the introduction of the
qualified majority voting in the field of culture, and negative aspects such
as the priority given to the principle of competition. Further articles
deal with international protection of cultural diversity, European
co-operation of national cultural institutes, the application of culture's
transversal dimension at EU level, look at various sectors - such as film
distribution, music industry, performing arts, tourism, books and
translations - from a European perspective, and include also interviews with
Klaic and Donnedieu de Vabres. |
