This issue of Europa Nostra's journal features a selection of recent articles from the organisation's main members, providing a panorama of the current challenges, practices and achievements from national heritage associations throughout Europe. The articles are either in English or French, with abstracts in the other language. The many beautiful pictures are a highlight of this journal.

Of special interest is the contribution of the Portuguese Centro nacional de cultura on the link between cultural identity and historical memory, drawing on the Council of Europe activities, in particular the European Heritage Days. Worth noting also the report on a German heritage education project which introduces pupils to monument protection.
