London-based "Intelligence of Culture" (ex International Art
Bureau) has already been circulated electronically in the Cultural Policy
and Action Department.
As usual, the Compass reports on developments in the cultural
sector at European level, news of the community, information on
funding possibilities, conferences, publications, etc.
Of particular interest in this issue are two debates of the European
Parliament: one on the European Commission subsidies to selected cultural
organisations, and the
other one on the issue of safeguarding cultural diversity and the European Commission's
communication on this subject.
