International Journal of Arts Management
vol. 7 (3), 2005

The contributions in this issue place a strong emphasis on the topic of marketing and include also company profiles of two famous Italian cultural enterprises: the Piccolo Teatro of Milan and the Venice Biennale.

Worth noting is the paper by Lapierre who suggests to rethink the management training methods, taking schools of cultural management as an example, and to maintain a balance between the professional and academic approaches in management courses. Also of interest is the analysis of the privatisation of Italy's national opera houses which have not led to a more managerial approach as expected.
