Kulturpolitische Mitteilungen
Nr. 114, 2006

Of special interest in this number of the magazine of the German Association for Cultural Policy is the theme section on duty, legitimacy and responsibility of local cultural policy: Rossmeissl  exposes  that culture, at local level, is at the core of democracy, because municipalities have an explicit mandate to shape this sector autonomously; Brinckmann argues in favour of an instrumentalisation of cultural policy and to use the potential of culture to achieve non-cultural objectives in an integrated approach with other policy domains; Backhaus-Maul then deals with corporate cultural responsibility, pointing out the new role of the business sector in society.

To look out for in the remaining section: the note introducing the recently established European Network of National Institutions for Culture (EUNIC); two reports on the fourth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research in Vienna in July 2006; and a presentation of the meeting of representatives of European Cultural Centres in Berlin in April 2006.

The table of contents and selected articles are available online on the website of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft at this external link.
