The focus section in this issue of
the newsletter on cultural and arts policy in France is dedicated to the
cultural situation in the French suburbs. Under the title "Banlieues,
identités et poisons de l'histoire", articles deal with the reasons for the
recent riots, and present various actors and initiatives. In the remaining
newsletter, there is an interesting article by Patin who critically
discusses the privatisation of heritage. Worth attention is also the short
