Theory, Culture, Society
vol. 22 (3), June 2005

This issue of the cultural studies journal includes an interesting article by Gane on Kittler's "media materialism" which has not yet entered into the mainstream of media studies or sociology: Kittler explores the ways in which meanings are generated by an underlying technological framework and of how these technologies exercise control over their users.

Worth attention furthermore is Stack's contribution on the effects reading may produce, approaching the act of reading as a means of subjective transformation.
