This is the second special issue of the interdisciplinary journal
dealing with cultural differences in tourism. Of special interest is the
article on the different perception of Slovakia and Check Republic,
despite their common history, by people in Denmark; based on the concept of
orientalism introduced by Said, the Western "orientalist tourist
gaze" on Eastern Europe is discussed in relation to tourism
behaviour. Worth noting is also the article by Govers and Go who present a model to explain the image formation of a tourism destination and propose necessary adjustments of tourism development and supply strategies to avoid problems in cross-cultural host-guest encounters.
