This number is a special issue on community development and entrepreneurial activity. It emerged from the Second International Critical Tourism Studies Conference, held in Split in 2007.

Papers include both theoretical explorations and practical recommendations. Key themes are sustainability, capability development, empowerment, socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, multi-actor relationships, processes, power relations and entrepreneurial development at the individual and community level.
