UNESCO heute
2, 2005

This issue of the magazine of the German UNESCO Commission is published in English - "UNESCO today" - as a gift offered to UNESCO on the 60th anniversary of its founding.

It includes a report by Bernecker on the milestones in the development of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity, and an article by Merkel, CDCULT delegate, on the additions of two German collections to the Memory of the World Register.

Of special interest is the text of a speech Sloterdijk held at a Forum on diversity and globalisation in Berlin in February 2005. He addresses five commonplaces in the debate of globalisation: globalisation itself, plurality, mixture, identity, and exclusivity.

The magazine is available in PDF from the website of the German UNESCO Commission at this external link; to open it you need Acrobat Reader software on your computer.
