UNIX System Analyst / Programmer

CAREER PLANS

My short term goal is to work as a system administrator in the IT industry.
Right now, I'm particularly interested in clustering and high-availability systems.
My preferences go towards the stable, fast evolving and widely adopted UNIX-like
free OS's (Linux, FreeBSD,...) and their software suite (Apache, Samba, PHP, MySQL, GFS,...).

WORK EXPERIENCE

    * 2000-... : Unix and Oracle administration, JSP and Vbasic programming.
          o Administration of Oracle Servers under Sun Solaris (Sparc and Intel).
          o Creation of Web-based interfaces for ticket selling.
          o Network and routing administration.
          o Datasport Ents . Since July 2000.
          o Description: As a long-term contract, I'm working as a system and database administrator on 30 Sun Solaris, NT, W2K and Linux servers running Oracle databases. My tasks range from installation, configuration and tuning to crisis recovery, heterogenous OS integration and task automatization, RAID, etc...
            I've also been occasionnally involved in Software design with the development team whenever required. I've designed Java/Javascript/HTML pages using JSP technologies, and been involved in printer driver development and microchip coding in VBasic and C++.
            I also take care of the routing technology on Cisco, Nautica and Zyxel ISDN routers, as well as on our high-bandwith accesses.

    * 2000: Linux socket programming. C language.
          o Creation of a simulator of an SMS provider (mobile phone short messages).
          o Mobileway Services. 2 months.
          o Description: As a contract position, working on a Linux R.H. workstation, I developed a simulator that allowed testers to validate the functionality of an SMS server.

    * 1997-1997: Receptionnist. Hotel Best Western Colisée ***. Paris. 2 years.

As well as taking an active part in my caving team's everyday activities and responsabilities (taking people underground and making them respect and like this mineral but fragile environment, teaching rope-evolution techniques particular to a safe practice of the activity), I've been in charge of several federal and regional posts ranging from environmental correspondent to accountant, whatever I was useful and good at.
