Devon
lads Muse have been creating quite a storm since coming to prominence
in 1998. Signed to Madonna's Maverick label in the US and Mushroom
in the UK, and with a string of critically-acclaimed singles and
John Leckie-produced debut album "Showbiz" under their
collective belt, they can currently do no wrong.
"Sunburn"
is an anthemic blast of piano and guitar, and has already found
a home on most radio playlists. They'll hate me for saying this,
but I do detect a trace of Radiohead here the song has similar
rousing dynamics, loud tortured guitars and unhinged vocal delivery.
Fortunately, that's no bad thing.
B-side
"Ashamed" is different some superbly chunky bass
and distorted vocals give the song a grungier feel and prove that
the band are no one-trick wonders. It's noisy and chaotic compared
to the polished A-side.
This
is the single that will undoubtedly propel Muse to the big league
and shift loads more copies of "Showbiz". Watch this space.
