Born Jacqueline Levi on June 2, 1921 in Strasbourg. In September 1939, when Strasbourg was evacuated, I settled with my family in Rennes (Brittany) where I started to study the Law, taking exams in June 1940 and 1941. I clandestinely crossed the border to "Zone Sud" in September 1941 and joined the Strasbourg / Clermont-Ferrand French University, where I registered for my 3rd year of Law studies. I entered the Resistance in October 1941. I became the liaison officer of J.P. Cauchi (evidence is given by 2 certificates delivered by Mr Alfred Coste-Floret and M. Henri Ingrand: Combattant volontaire de la Résistance et Combattant volontaire). I escaped by mere chance the Big Raid on November 25, 1943. I had left the University buildings to work in a library half an hour before the military operation took place. Thereafter, M. Delpech, Dean of the University, gave me a written authorization to take my final exams without having to attend the courses, this "in consideration of special circumstances." I graduated in Law studies in February 1945 and I took my oath as a barrister in the Court of Appeal of Riom. I registered at the Paris Bar. I worked as a barrister for 40 years. I am now retired as an Honorary Barrister. Publication : "Nul n'est censé ignorer la loi" (No one is supposed to be ignorant of the law), a Law dictionary for the general public (Litec Editions), which was awarded a prize by the official body "Académie des Sciences morales et politiques". |
