The reports featured in this issue focus on arts and education, on arts and health, on arts programmes for young people in detention, and on the economic and social impact of subsidised performing arts. Another trend visible in this number is the establishment of statistical profiles of the cultural sector at regional level, in particular regarding cultural participation.

Supplemented to this issue is a literature review on cultural policy research in Scotland since 1995; most of this evidence-based research was carried out by consultancies and results in standalone reports, not establishing a coherent body of research.
