Beyond Borders
no. 8, Winter 2005

This issue of the European Cultural Foundation's magazine presents projects supported by the Foundation, illustrating how the Foundation's grant-giving contributes to cultural co-operation in Europe. ECF projects aim at intercultural competence and increased participation, and also foster the development of a European public space, as in the case of the European online magazines Eurozine and Cafebabel.

Of further interest are an interview with members of the European Parliament about culture and the European crisis after the rejection of the draft constitution, and an article by Wagner about the Foundation's priorities in view of the current problems with the European integration process.

In addition, the issue includes a comment on the use of the buzzword "intercultural competence" in theory and practice, and a presentation of the developments of the Laboratory of European Cultural Corporation.
