The Culturelink review reports on activities, research, international meetings and conferences, publications, news and other information concerning the cultural sector. Worth noting in this number is the presentation of a new research project of the Centre for the Study of Cultural Development on cultural routes in Serbia with the objective to bring cultural tourism back to life in Serbia; the standards set by the Council of Europe for cultural routes shall be achieved. Also of interest is the presentation of the first phase of the UNESCO project "Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity" which supports the development of creative industries, inter alia through forging new partnerships. The part on the Council of Europe consists of a report on the annual Compendium authors meeting which took place in Berlin in March 2004. The dossier in this number reprints a large part of Joost Smiers' recent publication Artistic expression in a corporate world on the protection and promotion of cultural diversity in competitive international markets. An extract of the table of contents can be found below. The full table of contents and some articles in full text are available online on Culturelink's website at this external link. |
