This Italian journal - new in our
collection thanks to an exchange agreement - focuses on socio-economic
phenomena in the cultural field.
The articles in this issue on culture, environment and sustainability approach
culture in the context of sustainable development. Of special interest is the article by
Anghinelli and Beretta on the insufficient application of sustainability
indicators to cultural matters, looking in particular at the European Common Indicators,
a set developed for local development with the European Commission.
Also worth noting is the paper by Carta on cultural planning strategies
in regional development, combining considerations for cultural identities
and local landscapes. The short article on sustainable urban development
in Rotterdam in the documentation section looks also at the impact of having been European Capital of
Culture in 2001.
