Etudes - revue de culture contemporaine
No. 1, janvier 2007

This French monthly journal is new in our journal collection. Edited by the Jesuits, it engages in a wide range of cultural, social and political issues, many of international scope.

Of special interest in this first number of the year is the article by Dérens who critically analyses the wish of the international community, and in particular of UNMIK, to create a multiethnic Kosovo.

Worth noting is also the article hailing the European Prisons Charter, proposed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and not considered a feasible option by the Committee of Ministers.

The articles section is complemented by a "Carnet" which reviews topical cultural events in France such as theatre pieces, films, television programmes, exhibitions, concerts and books, both fiction and non-fiction.

The detailed table of contents with abstracts is available online on the publisher's website at this external link.
