the
London-based "Intelligence of Culture" (ex International Art
Bureau) has already been circulated electronically in the Cultural Policy
and Action Department.
As usual, the Compass reports on developments in the cultural
sector at European level, news of the community, information on
funding possibilities, conferences, publications, etc.
Of particular interest in this issue are two reports on the future of
Culture 2000: there are the recommendations of the DG Education and
Culture working group for a new cultural policy programme for the EU and
the suggestions of the European Institute for Progressive Cultural
Policies for "Post Culture 2000". Worth noting is also the
presentation of a communication by the European Commission emphasising the need for an
international instrument for cultural diversity.
