This newsletter by the
London-based "Intelligence of Culture" (ex International Art
Bureau) has already been circulated electronically in the Cultural Policy
and Action Department.
As usual, it reports on developments in the cultural
sector at European level, news of the community, information on
funding possibilities, conferences, publications, etc. Of particular
interest in this issue is the article reporting on a seminar held in London in
March 2004 which focused on the
barriers that the EU institutions face when trying to put into reality the numerous
rhetorical pronouncements about the value of culture. Worth noting is also
the article on the meeting of the Working Group on Culture Statistics in
Luxembourg which reviewed the progress in developing cultural statistics
at European level.
