The first article reports on the European Parliament
debate regarding the planned Culture 2007 programme. The Parliament agreed
to increase the budget to 500 million €. During the discussion, it was proposed that the programme should
play a greater role in strengthening the intercultural dialogue between the
EU and Eastern and Mediterranean countries; another proposal wanted the
programme to do more for protecting minority languages and
cultures.
Of further interest might be the presentation of the Joint Action Plan
"India-EU Strategic Partnership", adopted in New Delhi in
September 2005,
which envisages also the improvement of cultural relations. |
