The newsletter reports on developments in the cultural sector at the
European and the international level, news from the community, funding possibilities,
conferences, new publications, etc. This issue includes a report on the Council Meeting of Ministers of Culture in November
2005.
Of particular interest is the article commenting on a conference on the economic status of artists in Europe. Organised by the Media and Entertainment Union in Amsterdam in November 2005 under the title "Why Are Artists Poor?", the conference provided for interesting conclusions drawn from a multi-dimensional analysis of artists’ professional capacities and their environments. In addition, this number presents a publication on the reform of cultural policies in South East Europe: The arts, politics and change is available in the Cultural Policies Collection. |
