This is a not only a new journal in our
collection as of 2007, it is also the very first issue of this journal. It
is intended by its editors as a communication tool for scientific and
technical achievements, state-of-art know-how, advanced concepts and
practices in conservation, analysis, restoration and valuation of
architectural heritage, addressing researchers and practitioners alike. The
five articles in this issue deal with the protection of buildings against
earthquakes, reporting on experiences made with masonry in Mexico (Meli/Sánchez-Ramírez),
Slovenia (Tomazevic/Lutman) and with traditional constructions (Langenbach).
Piazza/Riggio present a reconstruction case in Italy which preserved the
authenticity of the monument, and Schueremans et al. a consolidation study
from Belgium.
