International Journal of Heritage Studies
vol. 13 (6), November 2007

Of special interest in this number is the opening article on cultural landscapes as category in the World Heritage list, looking at the concept , the approach of World Heritage Committee, management issues, and the importance of cultural landscape listings (p.427-446).

Worth reading: the paper on links between heritage and community belonging, showing the value of heritage sites in Canada as tools for negotiation about identity and citizenship (p.478-488).

Other articles deal with psychological factors in urban conservation (p.447-461); the effect of apartheid on public history in South Africa (p.462-477); the heritage of fences of heritage in Australia (p.489-510). Also to look out for: the short articles on the use of heritage and history for national promotion; British cultural comedy icons; and museum non-users.
