As usual, this journal provides news
on legal developments in Europe in the fields of broadcasting and new media. Of particular interest is the short presentation of the new UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The supplement to this issue, Iris plus, deals with the application of the European Union competition policy in the audiovisual field; the author highlights the limited and precarious legal status of state aid and agreements between audiovisual companies, and comes to the conclusion that the stipulation of the European Union Treaty to take cultural aspects in consideration in other policy areas is not really implemented. Iris plus is available online in PDF at this external link. |
