Iris - Legal Observations of the
European Audiovisual Observatory
no. 2, 2007

Of special interest in this number is the presentation of the recent Recommendation 1773 (2006) of the Parliamentary Assembly on minority languages in broadcasting. The text emphasises the importance of linguistic diversity and linguistic rights for minorities, not only for the development of their cultures and identities, but also for the enjoyment of equal access to information.

The supplement to this issue, Iris plus, is an interesting piece on access to cultural production means; under the title Broadcasters' Access to Broadcasting Frequencies it presents an overview of practices of frequency assignment for transmission at European and national levels, explaining also the technical aspects and requirements. The supplement is available for download in PDF from the Observatory's website at this external link.
