This magazine provides news on legal developments in Europe in the fields of
broadcasting, cinema and new media.
Of special interest: the presentation of the report on Digital preservation, orphan works and out-of-print works, adopted by the EU's digital library experts, the High Level Expert Group on Digital Libraries. Of interest among the national news: the Dutch media authorities grant air-time to representative religious organisations in the Netherlands, so as to ensure a diverse media landscape; however the two large Muslim organisations refuse to formally join-up to fulfil the requirements. The supplement to this issue, Iris plus, deals with the general human right of dignity in the media sector: Safeguarding human dignity in the European audiovisual sector by Tarlach McGonagle presents a good background on the concept of human dignity and its normative potential. It is available for download in PDF in English, French and German from the Observatory's website. |
