European Audiovisual Observatory
no. 10, 2007

This magazine provides news on legal developments in Europe in the fields of broadcasting, cinema and new media.

Of interest among the international news: the presentation of the recently adopted Guidelines of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on protecting freedom of expression and information in times of crisis (p.2-3).

Also worth attention among the national news: Spain is preparing a new law on cinema with the following provisions: TV channels must invest 5% in the production of European films; 25% of the cinema sessions per year must exhibit European films;  independent producers and distributors are recognised; up to 18% tax relief on cinematographic investments; the creation of a registry to protect film and other audiovisual works (p.11-12).

The individual articles of Iris are available from the website of the European Audiovisual Observatory at this external link.
