Journal of Cultural Economics
vol. 28 (1), February 2004

Of special interest in this issue is the critical review of fixed book price agreements in Europe (in particular the Netherlands), and its impact on the book sector. Other articles deal with the effects of public funding on private giving to the arts, with the fixed-payment contracts for actors, both in the US, and with the structure of the popular music industry, characterised by the coexistence of large multinational and independent labels.

Worth noting are also the two book reviews: Rushton evaluates Cowen's Creative Destruction which highlights the positive results of globalization for culture, and Tepper presents Schuster's Informing Cultural Policy, an analysis of the cultural research and information infrastructure in Europe and Canada.
