Journal of Cultural Economics
vol. 30 (3), December 2006

The opening article discusses the free access to museums policy of the British Government, and proposes a new finance model that combines public and private sources.

The other articles: Ordanini analyses the two main approaches for artists' selection in the recording industry, comparing choices made by majors and by independent labels; Ravid et al. discuss the impact of critics on audience choices of movies and how critics exhibit a statistical bias towards specific studios; Akdede/King investigate audience and attendance of state theatres in Turkey.

Of special interest among the three book reviews: Herold presents a collection of essays on cultural diversity protection and international trade liberalisation, focusing on the audiovisual industry and taking an economic perspective instead of a legal one.
