Journal of Cultural Economics
vol. 30 (4), December 2006

The opening article discusses cultural entrepreneurship and creative industries from a sociologist point of view. Following that, Cheng proposes a theoretical framework to evaluate the beneficial external effects of cultural atmosphere and cultural capital, concluding that governmental intervention, for example in form of subsidies, is required to compensate the effects of a liberal market.

Of special interest is the paper by Alberini/Longo who investigated travel cost and travel behaviour for the valuation of cultural monuments in Armenia; based on a study carried out for the World Bank, the data was gathered among domestic visitors to four Armenian cultural heritage sites: Garni, Haghardzin, Khor Virap and Tatev.
