Kulturpolitische Mitteilungen
Nr. 117, 2007

The theme section in this number of the magazine of the German Association for Cultural Policy is dedicated to the consequences of demographic changes and the distribution of population in rural and urban areas for cultural policies in Germany.

Worth noting are the comments of mainly German policy makers and professionals on the European Commission's Communication on a European agenda for culture in a globalizing world (p.19-20).

Of special interest is the report on the Conference "Cultural Diversity - Europe's Wealth. Bringing the UNESCO Convention to Life" which took place in Essen in April 2007; it mentions the Council of Europe's Compendium of Cultural Policies as useful system for monitoring the Convention (p.22-24).

Also of interest: the presentation of intercultural work in the German town Hagen (p.68-69), and the article on the cultural dimension of sustainability by Brocchi (p.82-84).

The table of contents and selected articles are available online on the website of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft at this external link.
