special interest in this issue of the Music Council of Australia's magazine is the
article by Hoegh-Guldberg on a statistical framework to measure the
contribution of the music sector to the Australian economy, taking into
account also socio-cultural values; he proposes a five-year plan towards a
"music GDP".
Worth
attention is also the note by Hampton on the impact of the Australian
Copyright Act on music publishing which actually prevents songwriters from
fully exploiting their own creations.
