This issue of the newsletter on cultural and arts policy in France focuses on the
proposal for a new copyright law which transposes the EU
Directive of 2001 on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and
related rights in the information society; several articles
critically examine the government's
proposal.
Briefly addressed are the EU Commission's proposal for revising the Television without frontiers
directive, a proposal for
reforming the French Archives and the harmonisation of resale rights (droit
de suite) in
Europe. Also included is a review of recent publications on the past and future of French
