Theory, Culture, Society
vol. 24 (1), January 2007

Rather curious is Engle's article which investigates the transformation of mourning after 9/11 into a call for war via kitsch and patriotic nationalism.

Also worth noting: the study of Lauwaert/Wachelder/van de Walle examining the possibilities and limitations of digital games for learning purposes.

Of special interest is the final article introducing the concept of third culture: it is exemplified by protesters, for example at world summits, and represents a response of people who are aware that the tools and technologies which are used to control citizens can also be manipulated in ways that could make oppressive regimes lose their grip; the author points to the ambivalent nature of technology.
