Traduire, entre les cultures
= Translating, Between Cultures
This bilingual number of the international journal of critical thought contains reflections on the dialogue between cultures which implies a translation between cultures. As with any translation, the context plays a role, there is the untranslatable, the incompatible, the interpretation, and so on. "Differences are at work both within and between cultures - just as they are within and between languages" (Editorial). Contributions deal, for example, with "The Twin Towers as metaphor" (Wallerstein), a criticism of Huntington's Clash of Civilisations (Robbins), transcription in oral cultures (Jean-Loup Amselle), "The destiny of a Translated Constitutional Culture" (Samaddar). The Chronicles include an article by Rupnik on nationalistic movements in Central Europe. |
