Geography of Morvan

Situated at the northeast extremity of the Massif central, Morvan is a low mountain range, constituted by granitic and volcanic rocks, set up in the middle of sedimentary grounds.

The rigorous climate and the density of the river system prove the mountain character of the massif. Its height rises gradually from North to South to reach 902 meters at the Haut-Folin.
