  Lyrics

You don't tell me, you don't dare
Saying you lost time
You won't tell me, I know it's hard
To keep your dream alive

Keep on talking about precious stones
About your navel in gold
Keep on fucking in beds of diamonds
Drinking 12 year's old

Keep on swallowing silver tongues
For your royal breakdowns
Keep on buying some brand new friends
Some like beautiful snow

No you ain't, no you ain't, no you ain't what you own
No you ain't, no you ain't, no you ain't what you own

Keep on killing your sweet innocence
Keep on sinking your hopes
Keep on turning blood into wine
Keep on keeping your smile

Keep on talking about precious stones
About your navel in gold
Keep on fucking in beds of diamonds
Drinking 12 year's old

No you ain't, no you ain't, no you ain't what you own
No you ain't, no you ain't, no you ain't what you own

What you own, what you own

  Versions

- There is a first version of Royalsucker on the set of four early demos (1998?) some people possess. The song already has (almost) its final shape.
- In autumn of 1998 this song had been included in the Italian compilation "Arezzo Wave" (released in Italy by Mercury). The same year, a version (recorded live but with a good sound quality) of Royalsucker is released on Europa Connection vol. 4, a compilation by a French rock organization.
- Royalsucker appears on the Royalsucker EP (1998).
- It then appears on Welcome to the modern dancehall (1999) : same version than the EP.
- A live re-orchestrated version appears on The man who was already dead (2000) [recorded Sept. 26th, 2000]

  Notes

Royalsucker is probably one of the earliest Venus songs. It's the one who got them in touch with BMG/RCA, their first record company.
It seems that the band enjoys it as an introducing song, since it's the opening track for both Welcome... and The man who..., the two albums so far.

Download the guitar tabs for this song in "GP4" format.
