In 1951,
a group of parents of various nationalities working at UNESCO founded The
United Nations Pre-School.
The school is
presently located at 40, Rue Pierre Guérin in the Paris’s 16th
arrondissement, in the building that once housed the “Petite Ecole”, a
nursery school established in 1916 by Madame Alice Hertz in memory of her
son killed in action during the First World War.
Between 1951 and 1976
the school had to move three times; continuing success meant larger
premises were required in order to provide more places. School life,
however, continued in much the same vein, both in its international
dimension and in educational style.
For the first
twenty-three years, the school’s president was Mr. Ronald Fenton, one of
the original founder parents. Today, the school is part of the UNESCO
system of “Associated Schools” to the United Nations.
The school is open to
all.
