This issue is dedicated to the
conceptualisation of art; its contributions explore a
variety of contentious points surrounding the definition, implementation, and
reaction to art and culture. Worth noting is the article by Dorn who discusses
how art has been increasingly "deterritorialised" through commodification,
globalisation and construction as social force. Of
interest is also the article by Madden who explores the meaning of the
current buzzword 'creativity' and what that means for the arts (see also the
abstract in the New
Acquisitions February 2005).
The final contribution is a review of The Nordic cultural model,
a book qualified as milestone for its comprehensive and theoretically
informed analysis of a cultural region; it is available in the
Cultural
Policies Collection.
