Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society
vol. 34 (3), summer 2004

The contributions in this issue deal with the value of art, focusing in particular on economic benefits.

Worth nothing is the article by Sterngold on theoretical and empirical problems of economic impact studies (see also the abstract in the New Acquisitions February 2005), complemented by a reply from an arts advocate.

Throsby discusses in his article how to measure the economic impact of a cultural industry as a whole (New Acquisitions February 2005). Further two essays deal with the use of the contingent valuation method in measuring the benefits of arts and culture.
