Option 1 - Flight to Paris/Train to Landerneau

1 Flight to PARIS

Most likely you will fly into Charles de Gaulle/Roissy Airport, located in the northern suburbs of Paris. Flights from the USA usually land in the morning Paris time. From here, you will need to get to the train station, located in the city.

ATTENTION If you plan to go directly to Landerneau the day you arrive in Paris, be sure to allow enough time to collect luggage, transfer to the train station, and make the train!

2 Ground transportation to MONTPARNASSE BIENVENUE train station

Taxi - Allow 1-1:30 hours door to door - Cost: 50-60€ each way
The most obvious way to transfer is to take a taxi. It's expensive, but you won’t have to share your ride!

Shuttle - Allow 1:30-2:00 hours door to door - Cost: 15-24€ per person each way
Another option is reserve a shuttle in advance. The one I use is called the Blue Shuttle and you can make a reservation online. The cost goes down for a round trip reservation and the drivers speak english. Please see the site for more details. The major drawback is that the shuttle may have other people to drop off first. Be sure to take this into account when booking your train.

Metro – Allow 45-50 minutes door to door - Cost: 8€ per person each way
For those really adventurous (or poor) souls, you can get to the train station via Paris’ metro system. This is a perfectly reasonable option for light packers. Besides being the cheapest way, it's also the fastest.

Once you’ve collected your luggage, follow signs to the ‘RER.’ Buy a ticket to Paris. Take the RER B. Get off at DENFERT ROCHEREAU station. Transfer to Metro Line 6 direction Charles de Gaulle/Etoile (just use your same ticket). Go 3 stops and get off at MONTPARNASSE BIENVENUE.

ATTENTION There will be stairs! So if you plan on bringing more than a backpack or a small bag with wheels – FORGET IT!

3 Train to LANDERNEAU

No matter how you get to MONTPARNASSE BIENVENUE, once there follow the signs to the ‘Grand Lignes.’ In most cases, this means take the escalator UP. Consult the departure board to find out from which platform (‘Voie’ in French) your train will be departing. Don’t forget to punch your ticket in one of the small yellow or orange boxes located throughout the station before boarding the train. Otherwise the conductor will yell at you in French! See How to buy your train tickets for more info.

Once on the train, RELAX! It’s about a 4 hour ride to Landerneau. Upon arrival you can walk or take a taxi to the hotel.

4 Car rental (Optional)

If you would like to rent a car to better explore the region, please see our Car rental page.

“I had no idea this was going to be such a pain in the ***!”

If all this sounds like WAY too much to handle after a 10 hour transatlantic flight, consider spending at least one night in Paris. That way, you can go from the airport directly to your hotel, take a nap, have a shower, eat in a nice restaurant and then head for the train the next day after a good night’s sleep.

If you choose a hotel in the 6th, 14th or 15th arrondissement, you will be close to the train station and to many of Paris’s best sites. See our Paris Hotel links.

“Lemme see Option 2…anything’s got to be better than this!”
