Ouverture d'un site Internet (http://www.euro-volunteer.org) dédié à la présentation d'initiatives de bénévolat/volontariat. Pour la France, le Cleirppa a travaillé en partenariat avec l'IRIV (Institut de recherche et d'information sur le volontariat).

Le bénévolat n'a cessé de progresser en France, passant de moins de 9 millions de bénévoles en 1990 à 10.5 millions aujourd'hui. L'engagement bénévole en matière de lutte contre le sida est particulier : il est à la fois un bénévolat classique pour lutter contre une maladie mais aussi un engagement militant pour défendre les intérêts des victimes du sida souvent marginalisés. Le crise du bénévolat est due au fait que beaucoup de militants, seropositifs, sont morts mais aussi à une certaine forme de militantisme trop agressif qui a pu décourager certaines bonnes volontés.
