THE STRASBOURG FRENCH UNIVERSITY IS TRANSFERRED  TO CLERMONT-FERRAND

When the war broke up in 1939, the town of Strasbourg was declared military zone by the French authorities and was immediately evacuated, a measure which did not apply to the rest of Alsace-Lorraine.

As a consequence, the entire Strasbourg University, including the Faculty of Protestant Theology, its teachers and students, were folded up in Clermont-Ferrand, a town in the center of France, which was not a full university town but hosted only an Art Faculty, a Science Faculty, a Law School  and a Medical School.
